The Paiwan tribe is a social organization that place importance on rank, roughly divided into chief, aristocrat, warrior, and common people. Every class has its content of the name, so as long as a name is mentioned, his rank and status can be told. Although the Paiwan tribe put importance on ranking system, they have a concept of the equality of men and women. The family property is inherited by the eldest child. Therefore, female chiefs were not rare to be seen.
