EPC Library News & Events: Drop Everything & Read / World Book Day 2019

UNESCO World Book and Copyright Day

UNSECO World Book and Copyright Day was established in 1995 and is celebrated on the 23rd of April every year. This year’s theme is “Share A Story” and adults, parents and older siblings are encouraged to participate by reading and sharing stories. The organizers will be encouraging everyone to ‘Take 10’ and recognize the positive impact that reading together for only 10 minutes a day can have on a child. We encourage you to join with us and 'Take 10' with your child and share your favourite stories.

April Events 2019

This year the library is celebrating Drop Everything and Read Month, and UNESCO World Book Day in April.

The celebrations will kick off with a visit from Matt Phelan (author/illustrator) who will visit the school on Monday 1st of April.

Over the holidays we will be providing you with reading related activities to do with your children (see competition forms and book bingo below).

There will be competitions, games, and many more activities during April.

There will be exciting surprises in the library on UN World Book Day (April 23rd) so don't forget to come and join us!

Book Bingo!

During April, we are encouraging students to take part in Book Bingo!

Students can choose from a range of bingo sheets to complete (downloadable below). They can either do a line or try to complete the whole form. When they're done they can submit their book bingo sheet to the library for a chance to win a prize. At the end of the month, the library will draw 5 book bingo sheets from the box and 5 lucky winners will get a small gift.

Book Bingo can be done all through April. You have until April 30th to complete your sheets!

The only rule is that you have to read books you haven't read before!

If you would like to take part, you can download the sheets from the links below.
